Buying guide

Choosing storage for a compact kitchen

A short, practical guide to measuring a small kitchen and picking storage that actually fits. No tools, no fixings, no installation, just pieces sized to slot in.

Measuring a compact kitchen worktop before choosing storage

Start with three numbers

Width, depth and height. With those, you can tell at a glance whether a bin will slide in, whether a riser will clear the shelf above, and whether a tray will pass along the worktop. Every Admiral House product lists these dimensions on its page, so you can check before you buy rather than after it arrives.

These are ordinary homeware suggestions to help you choose. They are not professional fitting advice, and none of our products require installation.

01

Measure before you choose

Note the internal width, depth and height of each shelf and cupboard. Galley kitchens often lose space to a shallow depth, so the depth figure matters most when picking bins and risers.

02

Work in stackable layers

In low cupboards, choose pieces that stack or add a tier: a shelf riser or stacking bins turn one usable level into two without any fixing or drilling.

03

Keep labels facing out

Tiered risers and turntables bring the back row forward so you can read what you own. It is the simplest way to stop duplicate jars gathering at the back.

04

Match materials to the job

Wipe-clean polypropylene suits dry pantry goods; sealed canisters keep flour and coffee fresh; woven rope baskets soften open shelves and hold linens.
